ABOUT THE PROGRAM

OPAC's Teen Art Program
offers well-rounded, in-depth experiences in a variety of artistic mediums for Oxnard teens. Classes will alternate between weekend sessions offered during the school year and Spring/Summer Camps. We'll have classes in drawing and textile arts to painting and sculpting and everything in between. Classes are FREE and all materials/supplies will be provided at no cost. The program is currently being offered on a scholarship basis.

Still-Life Drawing
with
Gabriel Islas

Saturdays
April 23 - May 28, 2022
11 am to 2 pm

Through still life, artists for hundreds of years have studied light, explored composition and told stories. We are thrilled to welcome back Gabriel Islas, a fantastic local artist and teacher, for this class. In this 6 part program, students will learn how to identify and draw aspects of light on form, create visual balance through composition and tell a story, all while using a traditional drawing process. Students, as a class, will arrange and choose their own objects to draw, as well as sketch multiple thumbnails to explore various angles, lighting options and points of view. With a final composition chosen, students will then use a traditional drawing process to complete their final drawings.

Class and materials are no cost.
All skill levels are welcome
Ages 13-18.
