Dear PACC supporters,
We are doing our very best to keep you informed about the status and future of The PACC.
SOME BACKGROUND
As some of you may have heard, the City Manager Alex Nguyen originally proposed closing The PACC starting July 1, 2019 as part of an effort to reconcile a ~$9.2 million shortfall projected for next Fiscal Year. Following public outcry through a series of community budget meetings, city council sessions, and media coverage, the city manager issued a press release on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 saying, "City staff will work with the Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation (OPACC) Board of Directors to present City Council with a short-term plan to fulfill the commitments for the events booked through the end of the calendar year." This was a huge relief that gives us the time and temporary support we need in order to execute a strategy to make this 501c3 nonprofit a sustainable endeavor.
THE CURRENT SITUATION
In a June 23, 2019 meeting, City Leadership presented a scope to City Council's Community Services Committee on what they are planning to put into a Request for Proposals for a new operator of The PACC. In that meeting, City Council agreed with our Board of Director's request to ensure that our nonprofit played a role in community programming here at The PACC. This was a huge coup for us, and we're excited to develop thoughtful, innovative and exciting programming for and with the residents and visitors of the area.
The second takeaway of this meeting was the the Committee charged The PACC with holding a public meeting where the community could provide their feedback on the RFP and programming at The PACC. This community meeting was held on August 8, 2019 and was recorded. Below is that footage. The PACC will compile results and share with the public, city officials and City Council.

In other very important news, the City released the RFP on August 5 and applications will be due August 30. The timeline and the detailed RFP can be here. The operator is anticipated to be selected by November and taking over operations in January 2020. The PACC plans to submit its own bid to become the operator.
